Claire Lawrence Distinction Student

I dreamt of learning to use a camera properly for a long time before I enrolled on the Institute of Photography’s courses.  I always had a hidden passion for photography, ever since I chose to write a school project about its history and made a pinhole camera at home.

Photography is a way that I relax and switch off from other things going on around me.  There is nothing better than going to an interesting or beautiful place and spending a few hours with my camera!

I especially love landscapes and street photography.  I really like to find landscape scenes that have a warm and tranquil feel to them with a warm light that you would want to escape into.  On my blog, I write the background stories of many of my favourite photos.

An inspiration for my street photography in recent times has been the city of The Hague – the architecture and the Dutch way of life that fascinated me in the 7 years I spent living there.  I sometimes like to incorporate warm colours in my street photography that complement the interesting environment and people.

I can’t wait to seek out some new projects in the near future!
